MULTIPLE VERTICAL BANDMILLS. For High Production Mills.

Standard Salem Equipment Twin and Quad Bandmills utilize cast ductile iron wheels to allow higher operating rim speeds, up to 10,400 surface feet per minute, and higher strain capability which translates into faster feed rates and more accurately sawn lumber using thinner saw kerf than competetive offerings.

High Production Sawmills

For high production sawmills, fabricated steel wheels are available for wheel speeds of 12,000 or 14,000 surface feet per minute. This puts more saw teeth per minute into the cut allowing for faster feed rates up to the limit of band saw blade design.

Salem Bandmills are preferred by many saw filers for accuracy and ease of maintenance.

SIZES | Twin & Quad Models

Salem Twin and Quad Bandmills are available in various sizes, usually described by wheel diameter.

Standard sizes include 48", 54”, 5’, 6’.

A few More Details on Our Quad Bandmills:

A Salem Quad Bandmill consists of four close coupled bandmills. One opposed pair of bandmills is in front and one opposed pair of bandmills is in back. Each pair of opposed bandmills has two bandmills mounted opposite each other on a common base.

Logs or cants feed through the saws of a Quad Bandmill to make four saw lines with one pass and develop five cants, flitches, or boards with the one pass through the machine for high production applications.

The bandmills can move on the common base to adjust for the desired size of boards or cants sawn.

Each bandmill of a Quad Bandmill carries and drives a continuous band saw blade to make the desired cuts in the wood.

Each bandmill has upper and lower wheels to drive the saw blade. For each bandmill, the cutting zone is the vertical span of the saw between the top and bottom saw guides on the Quad Bandmill.
